The rise of the 3 point shot in the NBA has been a talked about phenomenon for many years and is clearly visible in the chart below.
While most teams have jumped on the 3 point heavy bandwagon there are a few teams that have not and are still winning. The Spurs, Clippers, Raptors, Grizzles and the Thunder all of been able to establish great win records in the first few weeks of the regular season without having to rely heavily on the three. The league average for % of shots being 3 pointers for the 2016-17 season is currently 31%. Most of the teams mentioned above and highlighted in blue in the graphic below have been relied on free throws and the two point game in order to win games.
